If you are anything like me, you probably have a number of CDs or LPs that you purchased for one or two tracks. Until sites like Napster started offering the chance to buy single tracks, many of us ended up buying albums that we rarely listen to. NOW That's What I Call Country helps eliminate this troublesome situation. Top hits by 20 of country's greatest artists are all compiled on the one disk.
The CD opens with American Idol winner Carrie Underwood's hit "All-American Girl." There are two other American Idol stars on this album—Kelly Clarkson and Kellie Pickler. I can't say I like Pickler, but the duet that Kelly Clarkson did with Reba McEntire, "Because of You," is a great track!
I'm not fond of the twangy "she done left me so I'm drinking heavily" stereotypical country songs. Today's country is much more appealing to me. NOW That's What I Call Country features many songs I love, but didn't want to buy because I hadn't heard other songs on the albums. Keith Urban's "Everybody," Brad Paisley's "Letter to Me," Kenny Chesney's "Don't Blink" Trace Adkins' "You're Gonna Miss This" and George Strait's "I Saw God Today" are all emotionally wrought tunes that tug at the heart.
{mosgoogle right}Fan favorites like Sugarland's "Stay," Lady Antebellum's "Love Don't Live Here" and Taylor Swift's "Pictures to Burn" are also included on this CD packed with hits. Dancing With The Stars' Julianne Hough is included with her current hit "That Song In My Head." Another Dancing With The Stars' alumni, Sara Evans, is on the album with "As If."
The album also includes Chris Cagle, Gary Allan, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Jason Michael Carroll and Josh Turner's hit feature Trisha Yearwood.
Obviously, if you own all of these albums, you may want to bypass NOW That's What I Call Country. Otherwise, I highly recommend it! It's a great way to sample the best of today's country music.
