[GAMES REVIEW] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Title: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Company: Activision
Rating: 9 of 10
Call of Duty 4 is one of the most creative and entertaining first person shooter (FPS) games out on the market. If you are into FPS games then you know how hard it is to find a good one these days. Call of Duty 4 is that game that will keep you in your seat for hours.
The game itself has two modes: single player campaign and multiplayer. The single player mode has missions that need to be completed. You are a Marine soldier and have to defeat the Russian mob. A few of the missions you have are assassinating certain mob leaders. You are equipped with a sniper rifle and a silenced pistol avoiding many obstacles; keeping stealth. Another single player campaign mission puts you in the seat of a gunner in a helicopter and you are to eliminate the Russian forces from taking over a city and eliminating your allied forces.
The multiplayer aspect of the game is the best feature. There are about 90 thousand other players on at all times from all around the world. In multiplayer you have to level (similar to World of Warcraft) to unlock challenges, more guns, and a variety of perks. A perk is an attribute to help in combat. For example, Bandolier allows you to carry extra ammunition. As you get kill streaks during the online matches you can call in air strikes and designate certain spots on the map where you think will be the most productive in killing baddies. You are also given the opportunity to call in a helicopter strike that parades the map killing anyone it can find.
{mosgoogle right}Some of the different types of matches you can venture into are: Team Deathmatch, Team Tactical, Domination, Ground War, Free for All, and Sabotage. Team Deathmatch is a 12 man based Deathmatch. Domination is a 12 man capture the flag type match. Ground war is an all out death match where there are up to 24 players. Sabotage is more centered on team work. There is one bomb on the map. You and your teammates are required to plant that bomb at a certain area on that map and protect it until it detonates (Counter-Strike reminiscent). A few other modes of deathmatches are set in hardcore style where you are only allowed minimal radar of enemies and are not always allowed to respawn.
Call of Duty 4 is reopening FPS lovers all over the world. If you are a FPS lover and have a PS3, Xbox 360, or PC, go out and get the game and put your skills to the test.
